Determining your skin type is the first step to finding the appropriate beauty products to apply to your face. It is important to know what skin type you have so you can properly treat it as needed.
Typically, the five common skin types are: oily, normal, dry, combination and sensitive.
An oily skin type will usually have enlarged pores, shiny or dull complexion and blackheads or other blemishes.
A normal skin type will have no or few blemishes, a smooth and radiant complexion and no sensitivity.
A dry skin type is often flakey and will have dry patches around the face. Your complexion is often dull and more textured.
A combination skin type will often be dry in some areas, or normal and oily in others. It is common for individuals to have oily T-zones and a shiny complexion.
A sensitive skin type can be classified by skin conditions such as allergies or eczema. Sensitive skin can be irritated easily, which can cause itching, redness, swelling, burning or dryness.
While genes are also a contributing factor to your skin type, drinking lots of water and eating healthy is something you can control to keep your skin looking and feeling healthy. Why is this important? You want your complexion to be radiant and smooth, an ideal canvas when applying makeup.
